Lieutenant Visits Brother in Winters
WINTERS, June 17--(KP)--First Lt. George Graham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Graham of Winters, received his last promotion recently--and found himself able to bring the news to his family in person. Lieutenant Graham is with the Naval Plane Ferrying command and stopped at the Abilene airport for refueling and caught a bus to Winters to visit with his parents and brother, Robert, and sister, Mrs. George Poe and family. Another sister, Mrs. W. E. (Chick) Swofford, lives at Clyde.
Graham was born here Aug. 21, 1917; graduated from local schools in 1936; attended TWC, taking his B.S. degree in June, 1941. He volunteered for the Naval Air Corps June 2, 1941 at Grand Prairie, trained in a Jacksonville, Fla., base where he received his wings and commission as ensign April 2, 1942. He was assigned to an aircraft delivery unit and took further training in multi-motor planes there in June, 1942, he was assigned to ferrying duty in New York. There six months and transferred to Terminal Island, Calif., where he has since been stationed.
