Morris, Alvah L. - Corp
Company C
Corporal Alvah L. Morris, reported dead, was 28 years of age, unmarried, and had been for some years a clerk in the Inquirer office. He had been a grocer for some time before, and was engaged to be married to an intelligent and excellent lady residing in the West. Mr. Morris had laid by a handsome sum of money, anticipating his wedding. The Keystone Regiment (now defunct), to which he was first attached, had been doing duty at Fort Lafayette before its conversion into a State prison. Young Morris was related to Mr. Shannon, the tea dealer, and served his apprenticeship in the latter's establishment. His aged father left for his body on Saturday. The flag of the United States Engine Company was at half-mast for him yesterday.
