Walker, Samuel - Lieut
Samuel Walker, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil War. He was born at Tarentum, Pennsylvania, but spent the greater part of his life at Butler. During the Civil War he served with the rank of lieutenant and was promoted to captain before the close of the war. He suffered the loss of a leg while in the service and spent the remainder of his life as a retired army officer. Mr. Walker was connected with the First National Bank of Butler for several years and served as county tax collector for three years. He died July 4, 1896. His widow resides in Butler, where she was born. Mr. and Mrs. Walker had three children: Catherine, married Dr. R. B. Greer; Edwin Lyon, died at the age of five years; and Samuel.
