Rittman, George - Capt.

Company D

Captain George Rittman, of Company D, was an old resident of Frankford, and served with distinction during the Mexican war. For some years he has followed the occupation of tobacconist. When the President's proclamation was issued, Captain Rittman at once mustered around him the young men of Frankford, most of whom were attached to Small's Brigade, which was so terribly cut up in Baltimore on the 19th of April. He had been detailed as officer of the day on the on the Maryland shore, before the battle commenced, and, therefore, could not cross over with his company.
