WILLIAM BERRY was born in Waterloo, New York, and was a blacksmith by occupation ; he enlisted August 7th, 1862, and was appointed Corporal upon the organization of the Company; he participated in the battle of Harper's Ferry, Virginia, September 13th, 14th and 15th, 1862 ; was detailed as Brigade blacksmith, March 28th, 1863, and serving in that capacity until the close of the war, was discharged with the Regiment. Co. G, 126th Regiment Infantry New York, Disaster, struggle, triumph. Dedicated to the 126th Regiment of New York State Volunteers, 1870
