Robertson, James P.
James P. Robertson died March 23, 1929, at the age of 84 years. He was born in Westminster, Vt., November 24, 1844, the son of William and Mary Robertson, and was one of a family of ten children. He enlisted in Company B, 52d Massachusetts regiment at Greenfield. At the close of the war he entered the canned meat business in Boston, later moving to New York, where he was partner and vice president of H. C. Derby and Company of West 39th street. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club, the Mendelssohn Glee club, and the De-Forest Angling Association of the Adirondacks. Mr. Robertson's early life was spent in Leyden and he retained his interest in that place and had done much in a public way to promote its welfare. He had been a summer resident of Greenfield for six years, spending his winters, until this last one, in the south.
