Clark, J. Solon

J. Solon Clark died suddenly December 18, 1917, on his way home from work at Wells Bros. factory. He was a native of Wendell, son of James J. and Alice (Fisher) Clark, and eighty-two years old, one of the oldest members of the Old Guard of the Greenfield Tap and Die Corporation. He enlisted November 4, 1861, in Co. B, 32d regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry as Corporal; transferred to the veterans reserve corps, May I, 1863; mustered out November 28, 1864, as Private of Co. C, 3d regiment of the veterans reserve corps; member of Edwin E. Day Post [GAR] where for many years he held the office of adjutant; had lived in Greenfield since returning from the war.
