Davenport, John White
George White Davenport died April 8, 1905. He was a son of Calvin and Lucy (White) Davenport, born in Leyden, June 14, 1839. Studied law with his brother Charles W. Davenport, but never practiced his profession to any extent. He enlisted from Wilmington, Vt., September 3, 1862, in Henry F. Dix's Co., 16th Vt. regiment; mustered in October 23, 1862; served four months; discharged January 20, 1863 for disability. His home was in Leyden, Brattleboro, Vt., Bernardston and Greenfield.
