VETERAN OF MEXICAN WAR LAID TO REST

KEENE, Ky., Feb. 2.---The remains of John R. Simpson on of Jessamine's oldest citizens, were laid to rest in the Keene cemetery Sunday afternoon by the many friends of the deceased, Rev. R. F. Swindler, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiated.

Mr. Simpson was one of Jessamine county's oldest citizens, having served through the Mexican War and was 89 years old. He has one son living, but his whereabouts are unknown at present.

Mr. Simpson was a tailor until his eyesight failed. He was then given the place of mail carrier, which he held until a few years ago when he had to abandon it on account of extreme age.
